Course description

This course serves as an introduction to fundamental finance concepts and is designed specifically for students enrolled in the Blockchain Minor. Students will explore the intersection of finance and blockchain technologies, understanding how traditional financial principles apply and are transformed in the context of blockchain and digital currencies. The course will provide a solid foundation in financial theory, including the time value of money, risk and return, portfolio management, and delve into the specifics of how blockchain technology is impacting financial markets, digital assets, and emerging financial technologies.

Students will explore the basics of financial markets, analyze financial statements, and understand the role of cryptocurrencies and digital assets. • Explore Cryptocurrencies and Digital Assets: study the development, types, and functioning of cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin and Ethereum, including the processes of mining, trading, and managing digital wallets.
• Analyze Blockchain's Impact on Financial Markets: investigate the applications and implications of blockchain technology in various financial sectors, such as payments, lending, and insurance, and understand its potential to transform financial markets.
