About This Course

This course teaches bachelor level students how to assess and estimate the market potential for business ideas. «Business project (simulation)» course becomes an academically trained entrepreneur or business innovator: ready to start your own business or to become a change maker within an existing organization. It provides a thorough and realistic guidance towards the process necessary to turn an entrepreneurial idea into a business plan of a company/firm that will attract investors, partners and/or shareholders. In a systematic manner the course will guide students through collection and organization of the fundamental information necessary to prove the viability of a business idea and turn it into a self-sustaining enterprise. There will be heavy emphasis on knowing the customers intimately; on careful analysis of all the potential competitors; and on understanding the external environment and how it can affect businesses. All products and support services should be designed around the customers’ needs and should use their strengths to develop a convincing competitive advantage. The resulting plan should thoroughly and explicitly reveal how all these factors have been taken into consideration in developing suggested business strategy. And it is important that all these elements of the strategy based on market forecasting and financial projections.

Course goal(s)

The intent of the course is to give Bachelor students an understanding of the planning process, its stages, elements and issues involved in developing a new business or expanding already existing enterprises. It will present a comprehensive roadmap to decision-making in business planning and will offer a reliable toolkit of analytical methods and techniques that are helpful competitive business environment. By combining both advanced theory and best practices in management finance, accounting, statistics and economics students will learn how to build and operate successful companies.
