About This Course

The Academic Writing course is designed to develop students’ proficiency in academic English through a comprehensive and practice-oriented approach. Throughout the trimester, learners engage with authentic academic publications in the field of IT in Education, work collaboratively on a mini research paper, and present their results during a final poster conference. This course strengthens students' ability to use academic language, structure research papers, and critically evaluate scholarly texts. It also supports the broader goals of the BA program by helping students master essential writing skills necessary for further academic courses, research projects, and diploma work.

Over the duration of the course, students learn to understand academic tone, analyze research articles, formulate research context and problems, and apply writing conventions to various sections of a research paper. They participate in workshops, peer-review sessions, and project-based learning activities, which enable them to develop clarity, coherence, and strong argumentation in writing. By the end of the course, students collaboratively create a complete research paper that meets academic standards, includes proper citations, and demonstrates critical thinking and analytical skills.

The course emphasizes project-based learning, collaborative teamwork, guided writing practice, and active participation in seminars. Students receive continuous feedback from peers and instructors, helping them refine their writing style and deepen their understanding of academic conventions. The final assessment—poster presentation and final draft—allows students to showcase their research findings, practice public communication skills, and demonstrate mastery of academic writing. This course is essential for developing the competencies required to conduct independent research and succeed in academic and professional contexts.
